I have frequently travelled in India, a country I love. These painting are mainly from the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. They are all made, in their entirety, on the spot. It is a challenge in India to do anything unaccompanied, and though I sought to make these images from balconies or relatively inaccessible viewpoints, I invariably had the benefit of encouragement and well-meaning advice from somebody whilst making them.
